The owner/bartender of the
Last Chance Saloon in Wayne Alberta.
I drove 4 persons and myself to Drumheller Alberta to check out the
sights. After leaving Drumheller, It was surely time for
another drink. We headed for a little hole in the wall just
8km away. I parked across the street from the saloon.
Next to the saloon there is a haunted hotel and beyond that a candy
store. My friends went into the saloon and I stayed behind to
gather my cameras. As I shut the trunk (in Australia... it's
the boot) A couple was walking out from the saloon. The woman
asked me about my shirt. I told her that I had them made.
She wanted one, but the only one that I had with me was the one that
I had on my back. I offered her a trade, my shirt for yours.
She took the offer and off came her shirt. Ok, I followed
through with the deal. So, After trading shirts in the parking
lot, I went into the saloon. That is when I spoke to the
owner.
After asking for a
Guinness, and being turned down, I of course asked for a Molson
Canadian, eh! He gave me my favorite Canadian brew and asked
me when I was last in the saloon. I told him that I had never
been there before. He said that he has been to my web site.
I asked him how he found out about my web site. During the
last biker rally at the saloon, he was given a tip. It was
$1us. Upon this dollar was written www.iamdave.com.
He put the money in his pocket and only took it out after he got
home that night. That is when he first saw my face on my web
site. Now, I am trying to remember when I would have broken a
federal law by writing on money. I think it was Christmas Eve
1999 in Baker Nevada. I stopped by a pub to have a couple of
brews on a lonely Christmas holiday trip. They had a wall full
of money which people had signed. I wanted to add to that
wall, but I guess my money wasn't good enough. The signed
dollar made its way to Wayne Alberta, and arrived just a couple of
weeks before I did!

The Wayne Bike Run is held on the second weekend of July each year.
The 2003 run had about 3200 in attendance. I am not sure of
who to contact for information, but the Saloons phone # is...
403-823-9189. They may be able to direct you.
