chapter
This chapter covers August 1997 through
August 2002.
Previously, I had learned a bit about photography in
high school classes. It is now time to put a large chunk of my life
into pursuing my dream...
and the dream becomes my life.

In August 1997, I moved all of my belongings into
a storage unit to simplify my life. The only thing I had to do is
get to the Tru-Value Hardware Distribution Center each morning at 7 am.
I worked at the building about 40 hours per week. My schedule was a
bit odd. The busy days at the distribution center were Monday -
Wednesday. I'd work 10 hours each of those days.
Thursday and Friday were slow days in the building, so I'd work from 9
till 2. As soon as 2pm Friday came around, I'd jump in my beat up
Toyota and drive to my storage unit to get supplies for the weekend.
I've saved my personal days for the end of the year and
will use them by taking Mondays off thru September and much of October.
I'll even have one week of Vacation to spend. Severing ties with
what you are comfortable with is not easy. I went out of my way to
make my life simple as I headed into a sort of exile.

Goals for this period: Work
on composition and travel a lot. There are a few gems scattered
amongst the images in this chapter. Because I wasn't looking ahead
or at the "Big Picture", I didn't anticipate that this website was going
to be so large when it was first published. Many of the images in
this chapter are poor scans.
