My winter
trip in 2000 was to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and than south
to and around Florida. This was the first lighthouse that I
shot during the trip. It is found north of Kitty Hawk, NC.
I arrived at this spot in the mid morning on this cloudy day, and
felt that I needed to move on because I had many miles to travel and
many more lighthouses to shoot along the way.
I have 6 brothers, and 5 of them are now married. To get all
of us together for a family photo is not an easy task. We did
it in December 2000 as a Christmas gift for the parents. When
my sister-in-law went to pick up the proofs with her sister, the
photographers assistant looked through the product quickly. He
stopped when he got to the large group photo. There, in the
center of 19 people was a shiny head man wearing black. The
assistant pointed at the photo and said, "That is Viking Dave".
He too was on the
flight to St. Martens.
