Tree Fall

I took short trip with my friend Ken to the Smoky Mountains in July of 1999.  He always insists on driving and I don't mind that.  This allows me to swing my head around as I would like to when I am traveling alone.  Near Gatlinburg Tennessee, we crossed over a creek.  I turned around and saw how interesting these trees looked.  We stopped as soon as possible and walked back to the creek.  .  My eye was fixed on the angle and scene as I approached the logs.  Suddenly, my feet slipped out from under me and I started falling off of the boulder I was walking on.  I quickly spun around and grabbed on to the surface of the boulder as best I could.  My feet where dangling bout 1 meter above the creek as I caught my breath.  After pulling myself to safety, I checked my cameras.  I had purchased a nice camera bag for my trip through Europe and used it for the first time during this trip.  The camera bags sturdy foam insulation prevented any damage to my system this time.  If I had been using my old bag, my cameras surely would have been smashed on the boulder as I fell.
