Burnside Bridge

During my first season living in the tent and traveling, I stopped at the Antietam Battlefield in Maryland.  This was the first Civil War Battlefield that I had visited.  My elbows got wet for this shot.

Interesting story...
After doing the labor work for one of the grocery stores that I started working for in April 1998, the photo lab was complete.  For practice, the lab gave employees free processing for a few days.  I took this negative in to get the first 8x10 enlargements.  When I returned to pick up the product, the girls had given my film and prints to someone else.
Ohhh shit.  My best photo to date, and it is gone.  A few days later, still down I was, I saw Dave the Painter in the shop at work.  He asked me if I know anything about a beautiful photo of a bridge over an autumn stream.  He had gotten it from the store that we had been working on and was glad to give the negative back. But he was not going to let go of the beautiful 8X10.  Still, when I see Dave, we speak about that photo hanging in his living room.

I gave many 8x10 and 11x14 copies of this shot away.  My hope was for those who got a copy would hang them in a place where it could be seen by others.  My plan was to spread the word about me and my web site by using other peoples walls as display space.
